Hello party people. Welcome to another 6 best songs of the week. Let me be very clear: I don’t need page views or clicks with some genius listacle headline that nobody will read to bolster my social currency. Thing is tho, every once in a while there’s some songs that just speak loudly enough to me that I want to share. (If you’re really curious about what new songs are sailing my plane, check out this playlist).
Meanwhile, here you go. Enjoy. I hope you like at least one of these tunes.
First up, “Drugs” by Mura Masa. Ok. This has been out for a while. But it just hit my radar. Damn. I hate being “late” but wtf.
Next, we got Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, whose new album, Woodland, is about a perfect Americana record you will hear this (or any other) year.
Who the heck is Blinky Bill you ask?
Almost home. This new illuminati hotties song reminds me of the hopefully not too forgotten Blake Babies. This’ll sound sweet segued with “I’m Still Waiting” by Matthew Sweet on a mixtape. Excellent new record by the hotties.
Big song of the moment is by Halifax singer-songwriter Ellur, who I didn’t know until just a couple of days ago. Great opening line, “I think too much/I’m all out of fucks.” What a song. What a voice. This song will haunt you.
Finally, Indianapolis rock and roll band Wishy released their new lp a couple weeks ago and I’ve had it in heavy rotation. “Persuasion” has plenty of drive, plenty of guitars and shoegazepop vibes.
Thank you for listening.
